The GE LightSpeed Plus features a detector layout consisting of sixteen 0.63mm detectors banks and eight 1.25 mm detector banks. The scanner features GE''s MDMP reconstruction algorithm a version of the ASSR technique. The Light Speed Pro has a different x-ray tube, generator and gantry to enable higher mA techniques and faster scan times. There are currently four versions of this system denoted 80,100.120 and 140, with the number referring to the generator output in kW.

• Photon Counting CT: Newer technology using deep silicon for even more advanced imaging, detects cancers earlier and evaluates heart conditions better. 

• Revolution Series: Revolution ACT, Revolution Maxima, Revolution Aspire, Revolution Vibe, known for workflow and advanced capabilities. 
• LightSpeed Series: LightSpeed VCT, LightSpeed Plus, praised for speed and image quality in older generations. 
• Optima Series: Optima 520, Optima CT660, reliable options, often available refurbished. 

1. Patient Positioning: You lie on a table that moves into the gantry (the donut-shaped part).
2. X-ray & Rotation: X-ray source and detectors rotate around you, taking images from many angles.
3. Computer Reconstruction: A computer combines these images into detailed cross-sectional slices (like slices of bread).
4. Contrast (Optional): A special dye might be used to highlight certain areas.
